Criticism (pseuwisdom 7:1-9)
25 September 2007
1 I don't like being criticised but, it is a fact of life. I don't have a proper way to deal with criticism but found this nice post from lifehack.org about dealing with that.
2 First, ones should asked himself, "What Can I Learn from Criticism?" because most criticism is probably based, at least in part, on some truth. Through criticism we have the opportunity to learn and improve from their suggestions. Yep, sometimes it's hard to do this because I refuse to learn anything from criticism
3 Respond to the suggestions not the tone of the criticism. Or even the people that said that criticism. We need to separate the criticism from the style of criticism. Bitter pill is healthier that a sweet candy sometimes.
4 Value criticism. The problems is that quite often, we only value praise. When people speak kind words we feel happy. I know that very well. With criticism, you can always reply, like you could do this better.
5 Don't take it personally. It is a mistake to identify ourselves with anything material in this world. Yeah, like tyler durden said, "you're not your job. You're not your wallet, etc."
6 Ignore False Criticism. Sometimes we are criticised with no justification. By remaining silent we maintain a dignity that others will come to respect. Eat that you all, false critics!
7 Don't Respond Immediately. It is best to wait a little before responding. I'm not very spontaneous anyway, so this one is easy to do.
8 Smiling, even a false smile, can helps us to relax more. This is what I'm so good at. But, smile can sometimes mean you don't serious to accept the criticism. But, smile anyway.
9 Oh yeah, before I forgot. Happy birthday, my little sister.
