Parenting is an art (pseuwisdom 16:1-9)
27 March 2008
1 Parenting is an art and although right now I didn't have a skill or experience to do it, but when I was a child I've experienced some of the art in me. There are several things that I experienced or wanted to experience as a child. Maybe it's right with some child, maybe it won't work with another. Like I said, it's an art. Eventhough parents or soon-to-be parents have read dozens of books, in the end, it's best for them just to throw away the books, but remembering some of its suggestion. Here are some that I didn't find in any books (if I ever read one)
2 One, punish yourself when you punish a child. Go to your room. No TV for a month. You're not allowed to play video games for a week. Sounds familiar? Well, it shouldn't be. Because if a child is making mistakes, you also making one in your parenting. So punish yourself and your kid together. Lock yourself together in his room. If he cannot watch tv, you cannot watch tv either. And never..never..hit your kid..
3 Two, tell us your era, when you're just like your kids. They didn't think that 70s or 80s is uncool. But if they don't know about that era, they might think that era is uncool. Don't let them think that the remake is the original. Tell them about koes plus, bing slamet, and elias pical. They'd like to know you when you're their age.
4 Three, teacher is not their main educator, you are. When it comes to wisdom, you're their main source. They believe and try to obey everything you said, as long as it's rational. If you said that it's bad to buy junk food, they will not do it. Don't ever let the educations of your child lays in their teacher or worst, their nanny.
5 Four, be a criminal with your child for one or two times. Steal something from the market with them and tell them why that's wrong. Drive through a red light and tell them why it's wrong. And the bonus is that your kids will see you as human and not some saint that always do a righteous thing. It's easier to make mistakes later on.
6 Five, say 'I'm sorry' if necessary. You're human, you make mistakes. Your kids will understand it.
7 Six, let your child make mistakes and don't be embarrassed by them. Remember it's all in one package. If your child is screaming and other people looking at you with scorn or pitiful eyes, that's the price you must pay. If they spoil something in restaurant, well, that's your price. They didn't care, they just doing their thing. It's you who feel embarrassed, like someone scold you for being a bad parents.
8 Seven, reward your child on report card. Okay this is my childhood speaking. My parents always reward me money for 7,8,9,10 that I have, while 5 or 6 have negative amount. All that saying about education in the system is for your own future is a bunch of lies, because how much education in the system that you will use until you grow up? Wisdom is more important in my opinion. At least with rewards, your childs will measure how much reward that they will get and calculate their strength and weakness to get optimal results.
9 Parenting is an art. Always remember that. There's no right or wrong. If something wrong, just fix it immediately.

The Image of Him (Authentreel 5:1-5)
18 March 2008
1 Okay, so everyone seems to talk about this movie, Ayat-ayat Cinta. Although I'm Catholic, I watched the movie and also read the book. You who are Catholic should watched the movie and read the book. It's not the movie and book about Islam. Most of all, it's a movie about love =p It's not promotion really. I just read the e-book and the piracy version of Ayat-ayat Cinta, all courtesy of the WWW.
2 Just watched the movie first. It's on the internet and it's free. Or if you have money and time to wait in line, you can see it in the theater near you. If you're like me, a Catholic, there's an enlightened moment in the movie.
3 I don't know whether it's intentional or not. OR whether some people see it too or just me. But check this picture on the scene from a movie and tell me the first thing you think after you see this picture.
4 No clear idea? Compare it with this picture from the passion of JC. See the resemblance?
5 Even in the darkest corner of the earth, He's always there in many form to help those with heavy burden.

Coming Clean (questpoll 1:1-6)
11 March 2008
1 Okay, so i received evan sanders picture from my friend alongside his foreigner presumably his boyfriend. But, i might be wrong.
2 This combines with a Richard Dawkins speech that i download this morning from the internet, makes me wonder one thing.
3 Which is more difficult? Admit that you're a gay or admit that you're an atheist?
4 Both are hard, especially when you admit it to your parents, but in Indonesia where almost 90% of its citizens believe in God, i'm guessing atheist will have more scorn eyes than a homosexual.
5 Again, i could be wrong. I read that in America, a 14-year-old boy killed a 15-year-old boy just because he is being asked to become his victim's valentine.
6 And for all of you that want to comment, the most difficult thing is to admit that you're gay atheist, well tough luck, create another comment.

I found your camera (gratidea 6:1-5)
25 February 2008
1 I like this site. A very genuine idea that come from another great site.
2 It's a site where people can post pictures that they found in digital camera, flash disk usb, memory card, that left out in park, restaurant, and basically everywhere.
3 The idea is simple but what i like is something about how people can connected with one another.
4 I know what's like to lost your precious memories taken in picture. In my cases, there isn't any salvation because the memory card is corrupt.
5 But if it's lost and can be retrieved, I think we should try to help the owner and those precious memory find each other.

What do you care about? (Pseuwisdom 15:1-8)
21 February 2008
1 Since Tuesday, I wear this pin with a flower and a sentence "We always care." It supposed to show our solidarity and that we keep our professionalism above anything else.
2 Also, since Tuesday, I have a training in Microsoft about SQL Server 2005 Performance Tuning and Optimization. The trainer is a Chinese and on lunch, he saw my pin (I forgot to take my ID off) and asked, "What do you care about?"
3 Of course, his English is not perfect, so what I heard is, "Whatsee dossee youssee caresee aboutsee?"
4 Anyway, like a obedient employee, I explain to him about the news, of course within my own perception, and I could be wrong and also about the meaning of the flower and so on. What I said seems lost in translation, so he just nod with understanding (or pretending that he understand).
5 Then I come to the office in the evening and read an email about the concern of not using indonesian language on the pin.
6 Maybe that's the reason. Yes, indonesian language is great, but to go international, we use English. Remember we want to show our professionalism and solidarity not only to Indonesian people, but to everybody in the whole world.
7 Yes, I wanted to show to the whole world that I always care.
8 What do I care about?

Dokumen (pseuwisdom 14:1-6)
13 February 2008
3 Hei, gue 100 persen mendukung paperless.

3 Apakah memang susah yah, berbuat kebaikan tanpa takut tertimpa kejahatan?
5 Nah, sekarang kalau dibalik.
