Mis-autocorrect (Zentech 1:1-10)

when i go to a restaurant this evening, i noticed something on the menu. It’s a drink that i ordered eventually. The simple drink that, according to the restaurant, named “Es The Manis”

Sir, you’ve been mis-autocorrected.

For those who didn’t understand the first verse, here’s the explanation. The correct menu should be “Es Teh Manis” meaning “Sweet Ice Tea”, but thanks to Microsoft Office Words Autocorrect option, “teh” become “the”.

So the menu now meant that “Manis” is nickname for “Es”. You know, like Larry the Incredibles, or Jack The Ripper. Can you imagine a new superhero named “Es The Manis”? Or a serial killer named “Es The Manis” ?

Es The Manis is there as a sign of your stupidity. You did not spellcheck before you printed the menu. You didn’t exclude ‘teh’ as ‘the’ in autocorrect tabs on Microsoft Office Words. How? Tools > Autocorrect Option > Find the word teh on the list of words > Delete the entry.

Another example of mis-autocorrected is when you try to write the word “cuma” that means “only”. Words always capitalize the first alphabet of the word cuma so you can only write "hanya.” When you search on the internet, you will find out that Cuma is "Friday" in Turkish so it's getting capitalized.

You unclick the Tools > Autocorrect Option > Capitalize Names of Day and you can write cuma correctly.

In our life, we mis-autocorrected people, situation, work, and very much everything. Sometimes, we have this “sets of words” about how our life supposed to be, how our friends supposed to react and how our surrounding must behave according to our “sets of words”

We often said to our friend, “You’re ‘teh’ and you’re supposed to be ‘the’. Don’t argue. Just correct it.” We rejected opportunities because it’s a ‘teh’ situation and not ‘the’ situation. Predefined sets became more important then to find what’s right.

By the end of the day, many of us failed to realize what’s right.

Just delete your autocorrect entries. For your sake.
